Communications. Strategy. Writing.
Working with executives to shape clear, creative, compelling narratives to drive understanding and action.

10+ years in Southeast Asia - Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, India. Currently based in London.

Communications. Creative Direction. Advertising. Marketing. PR.

I've worked across both high-stakes comms work (crisis comms, advisor to UHNWIs) and creative disciplines (brand manager, creative director); a blend that's atypical, but keeps both disciplines honest. Strategy without creativity can get sterile. Creativity without rigour drifts. Both start and end with people, and what makes us all tick.

1. Strategic Communications; crisis, change and reputation management

Transformation, crisis, and reputation

  • Partnered with C-Suite at S&P 500-listed and founder-led organisations, shaping strategic narratives across growth, transformation and moments of scrutiny.
  • Led 360-degree, integrated, multi-channel campaigns, from creative concepting, research, audience segmentation through to multi-month activation, iteration, retrospectives.
  • Led crisis communications in high-pressure situations, including sensitive operational incidents and complex environments. Advised on messaging during geopolitical instability and disrupted operations, balancing transparency, and risk and reputation.

2.  Executive & Thought Leadership

Voice of leadership

  • Served as trusted advisor and ghostwriter, speechwriter to CEOs, Managing Partners and founders.
  • Shaped executive presence across Town Halls, global events (including World Economic Forum, Davos), media and social platforms.
  • Managed the global voice of a UHNW founder, balancing personal vision with institutional credibility.
  • Translated complex topics, from AI to sustainable aviation, into clear, persuasive narratives.

3.  Brand, Content & Creative

Where storytelling meets commercial impact

  • Led brand and content strategy using ABCDE approach (Audience, Brand, Creative, Data, Events) to deliver integrated, high-impact campaigns, spanning digital, native articles, video - short & long-form, social media & events.
  • Conceptualised, pitched and developed creative concepts within CNBC’s creative/advertising studio for global brands including Microsoft, UBS and Huawei, translating technical ambition into compelling market stories.
  • Creative direction: led graphic designers, animators, videographers, media planners and events teams to bring campaigns to life across formats and platforms.
  • Led content creation to drive commercial momentum for an electric aviation product development, contributing to a $2bn+ order book and global visibility.

Experience in the field:
Management Consultancy (Oliver Wyman)
Private Equity (The Clermont Group)
Creative Agency (CNBC Creative Studio - 'Catalyst', Transiris Advertising Group)
Healthcare Tech (RingMD, Holmusk)
Aerospace & Defence (Eviation, magniX, Sterling Dynamics)

It Takes a Village: How Conservation Is Empowering Communities in Africa (Longform article)

As the first rays of a crisp Malawian dawn break over the Kasungu National Park, the sheer cliffs of a formidable peak cast a long shadow over the red earth and mosaic of deciduous miombo woodland. Mwam’gombe. The largest granite mountain in the national park; the name means “like a bull” – for its aggressor stance, towering over the undulating plains. This morning, before the African sun rises too high and bakes the earth, Mwam’gombe is a hive of activity. Two dozen men and women, ant-like from...

Empire Antarctica (Early Journalistic Content)

Not many writers have described an Antarctic crevasse from forty metres within. Mainly because not many have the mettle to withstand 14 months living on an Antarctic research base, and to write about it subsequently with such haunting beauty that the rest of us can vicariously live it too.

In this memoir-travelogue, Scottish MD Gavin Francis jumps at the once-in-a-lifetime chance to become base doctor for the British Antarctic Survey on the Caird Coast of Antarctica

About Me

Currently Director of Communications at a global management consultancy. Previous leadership roles in Marketing, Advertising and PR - predominantly in Southeast Asia and London; also working with global firms based, or with a strong presence in the States. 12+ years of content strategy, advising the C-suite on messaging that cuts through the noise, achieving demonstrable results. Read my story here.

Working Style

I will always be a writer at heart, delighting in the craft of selecting compelling words to meet voice, audience, and purpose - and drive unique impact. Alongside the art sits the science; honing strategy and advising on comms mechanisms and positioning; proving what's working through analytics. (None of which works without the most indispensble ingredient: listening.) In 2026, much of my work is AI-informed, but with a human strictly at the helm.

My Ethos

I thrive working on projects that impact the world positively. Words are powerful. Let's use them wisely.

I'm drawn to work that brings clarity where there is noise, direction where there is uncertainty, and that focus on meaty, interesting subjects. I aim to make communication clear, human and meaningful.

I care as much about lifting others up and contributing to an outstanding team, as the work itself.

A Snapshot

This site is an extension of my LinkedIn page, to share selected work and give a clearer sense of my portfolio.

Most of this work sits within teams and organisations, often behind the scenes — including a fair amount of ghostwriting and supporting others to find their voice.

Much of the strategy can't be shared publicly, but the aim is to give a reasonable flavour of the outcomes.
